Join us on February 20th and 21st as we walk across Ipswich, having conversations about mental health and improving our wellbeing through exercise and engagement, and connecting with local support organisations.

At Your Own Pace

You can participate in the major event for up to 50km, departing from 1 of 3 checkpoints, or break the walk up in to smaller walks in your local neighbourhood at your own pace.
Register as an individual or a team, and through sponsorship from friends, family and supporters, help raise funds for Helens Haven, our local crisis support centre providing Counselling, Housing, Food, Support & Recovery for people in need.

There are many physical, psychological and social benefits to walking and physical activity and the Goodna Street Life Walkathon is sure to be a rewarding experience for everyone involved.
Prizes will be awarded to the highest fundraisers, and most km's logged. Be sure to track your distances using your smartphone and log your km's with our team at the event finish line from 3pm Sunday the 21st of February at Helens Haven, 229 Brisbane Rd Goodna.

  • Saturday 20th Feb

    Registration

    Meet the team at School Road Park, 49/7 School Rd Grandchester at 6.30am Saturday 20th of February for registration and a BBQ Breakfast.

    Teams will depart from 7am with support crews from Hyundai and Pro Drive

    Distance 22km, Estimated time 3.5 hours

  • Saturday 20th Feb

    First Checkpoint

    The first checkpoint in the walkathon is at Henry Lawson Bicentennial Park, Walloon.

    Participants are asked to refresh and rehydrate before taking on the next leg of the event.

    People starting from this checkpoint will depart between 11am and 11.30am, before to register with support crews if you are starting from this checkpoint.

    Distance 12.5km, Estimated time 2 hours

  • Saturday 20th Feb

    End of Day 1

    We finish day 1 at Darcy Doyle Place Ipswich

    All particpants must sign off with our team, times and distances will be logged here.

  • Sunday 21st Feb

    Day 2 Starting Line

    The final leg of the event departs from Darcy Doyle Place Ipswich on Sunday 21st of February.

    All participants must sign in with officials, and will depart in small groups from 9am with support crews from Springfield Hyundai, Challenge Employment and Pro Drive.

    This will be the most challenging leg of the journey, with more hills so be prepared.

  • Sunday 21st Feb

    Checkpoint - Final Leg!

    Walkers will take a small break at one of our major sponsors, Challenge Employment in Collingwood Park for refreshments. Cnr Dunlop St and Old Ipswich Rd Collingwood Park on Sunday 21st of February.

    This will be the last pitstop before the finish line.

    Distance 3km, Estimated time 1 hours

  • Sunday 21st Feb

    Finish Line !!

    The event concludes at Helens Haven, 229 Brisbane Rd Goodna on Sunday 21st of February.

    Particpants will log their times and distances with event officials for final tallies from 1pm. Sponsorships will remain open until event close at 4pm.

    Food, entertainment and markets will be held at the finish line, so be sure to bring supporters along to celebrate your amazing efforts.

Safety First

Walking is considered a low risk activity, but be sure to know and respect your limits. We will have support crews and first aid officers available on the day, and to ensure everyones safety we ask all participants to follow our safety guidelines and procedures.

  • Know your limits, and rest when required
  • Drink water, bring your own water bottle and speak to support crews for additional water and top ups.
  • Wear appropriate clothing. Comfortable and appropriate walking shoes, light clothing, and bring a hat.
  • Apply sunscreen regularly throughout the event. Speak to support crew if you need sunscreen.
  • Abide by all traffic rules. Follow all road safety rules while participating in the event. Stick to footpaths and pedestrian crossings.
  • Stay in small groups. Keep an eye on fellow walkers, and limit numbers in any one group to no more than 10 people.
  • Be COVID Safe. This is an outdoor event, but please ensure you follow the hygeine and social distancing COVID safe measures, and if unwell, stay at home.
  • Keep your phone on you and our event contact list provided on the day should you require any assistance.
  • In the event of an emergency call 000, and report all incidents and injuries to event coordinators.

By following these simple procedures, we can ensure a fun and safe event for everyone.

Homeless Sleeping Pods


Goodna Street Life are an independent local charity providing support to our communities most vulnerable. Our services are funded through our Op Shop, community donations and fundraising activities like the Walkathon.

We are very excited to soon be announcing more details of our Homeless Sleeping Pods project, a unique an innovative solution to rough sleeping to provide safety, support and dignity to our homeless.

Goodna Street Life are raising funds for Helens Haven, our new community centre in Goodna. We help people dealing with crisis, and to get off the streets, and into homes with the support they need to live with dignity and independence, and we need your help.

What can we do?

Our plan is simple. We put people in homes.

Goodna Street Life are currently constructing Helens Haven, our crisis centre, including accommodation as a first step to access support, and secure long term housing and stability.

All funds raised will help us provide housing and accommodation, and the appropriate support services to help people achieve independence.

Together we can defeat homelessness and ensure everyone has a safe place to call home.
